YES!!! Everyone is required to know how to swim well in order to get on the river. The water can get up to 10 ft deep.

You can arrive any time after 10:00 am, and on most days until 3:30 pm. Please make sure to check our home page the day you are planning on visiting to check if there are any changes in times.

Are paddles necessary?

Paddles are absolutely helpful! The river does tend to push you to the sides where there are fallen branches and rocks, so paddles are very useful in navigating the river. We rent out paddles for $5.

How cold is the water?

Water varies between 64-78 degrees Fahrenheit.

The 1.44 mile float take between 1 1/2 - 2 hours depending on river flow rate and how much participants paddle.

No, the float starts at Etowah River Park and ends at The Mill. You will park your cars at the same place as the end point.

Yes. Food and drinks are allowed to be brought on the river. That being said, no glass or styrofoam is allowed. Park Rangers will issue fines to anyone with glass or styrofoam on the river.

Rule of thumb: What goes on the river must come off the river.

Is there wildlife on the river?

Yes. You will see fish, turtles, and birds on the river. These are wild animals so please be sure to leave them alone and observe from a distance.

Do you have parking on sight?

Yes. Please look for the school bus and follow the signs to park. Please be aware of the Bus that is shuttling customers and tubes to and from the “put-in” location.

Are there any rapids?

No. There are parts of the river where the speed can increase slightly. However the river can speed up fairly quickly if caught in an unexpected storm.

Can you bring your own tube?

At this time we do not allow people to bring their own personal tubes. Everyone must float on one of ours. We have cooler tubes for rent for $20.

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO COME?

We always recommend arriving earlier than later in the day to avoid lines and long wait times. When visiting on weekends, you must purchase your tickets online before arriving. There will be a specific time slot you will need to arrive at.

What happens if we are unable to open due weather, river conditions etc and the customer has already purchased their booking?

If weather and river conditions require us to close we will issue full refunds. To receive a 50% refund, reservations must be cancelled 48+ hours before reservation time. If you cancel within 48 hours of your reservation time, or if you don't show up for your reservation, there will be no refund. We highly encourage people to reschedule sometime during the season in which they purchased the tickets instead of requesting refunds.
